Depression is very real and it’s scary as hell but the amount of people who have crippling depression they can’t get out of is actually really really slim
no matter who you are, whether you are depressed for real or whether you’re just feeling down on yourself Or if you’re just flooding your brain with negativity, these tips will help you overcome your issues and help you learn to manage them better.

#1 MAKE SENSE OF YOUR FEELINGS
When you are depressed even the smallest trigger can turn into a flood of negative emotions instead you should be honest with yourself,
try to figure out what the big underlying root issue is that making you feel this way and also what smaller things are triggering your current spiral.
Understanding your feelings is the only way to get over them it’s like a boxing match once you can understand your opponent you can break down and start to beat them so once you understand your emotions you can break them down and make sense of them so you can solve the things that are causing your negative feelings once and for all.
#2 MINIMIZE TOXIC BEHAVIOR
When you’re feeling depressed you will most likely start engaging in toxic behavior this type of behavior typically leads to hurting yourself or others in one way or another but this isn’t always easy to identify sometimes it could be a lot more subtle which makes it harder to acknowledge and start to fix,
for example toxic behaviors can include deciding to lay in bed all day and wallow in self-pity instead of giving up and trying to take action against the things that are bothering you or refusing to be open about your problems and keeping them from your close friends and family who could potentially help.
These sorts of toxic behaviors not only ruin things up in the present, but it also makes it harder to fix your depressed mood in the long term.
These subtle and more apparent toxic behaviors lead to bad habits and routines that can push you further into depression And they also lead to a constant negative energy around you that will make improving your mindset even more difficult because you’ll have to break these bad habits and behaviors, they can manifest in many forms if you’re depressed,
chances are you already engage in this type of behavior so you should recognize it and stop it.
#3 DON’T ADOPT A VICTIM’S MENTALITY
Always take responsibility and never act like a victim even if you have the right to do so. This is not about right Or wrong it’s about transforming your mindset to the point where you can take charge in every situation and do your best to turn things in your favor.
Understanding that acting like a victim doesn’t bring you any benefit so don’t bother adopting that mentality instead focus on what you can fix and what you have control over which brings me to my next point.
#4 FOCUS ON THE THINGS YOU CAN CONTROL IN PRESENT
One of the most common reasons for depression and negative moods stem from dwelling about past events or stressful future events,

YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST, YOU CAN ONLY CONTROL YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON IT,
so since you can’t change it, All you can do is change how you look at it and in terms of future events, you can’t dictate or control what will happen all you can do is control what you do now at the end of the day it comes down to this knowledge bomb I’m about to drop on you,
IF YOU DON’T LIKE SOMETHING , CHANGE IT. IF YOU CAN’T CHANGE IT, THEN CHANGE YOUR MINDSET TOWARDS IT. Don’t bother wasting time focusing on shit you can’t control,
focus on a few things that are in your control and let the rest happen,
knowing that you can always change your perspective on it, and how you feel about it. Trying to change what has already happened is just making you relive those times.
You need to understand that you can totally turn your life around at any time, you just have to start.
#5 TAKE CARE OF YOUR PHYSICAL NEEDS
If you’re depressed and all your physical needs aren’t taking care of, you don’t stand a chance at making yourself feel better.
How you feel physically sets the tone and basis for how you feel mentally,
so it’s important to make sure you’re physically fit and healthy before you start tackling your mental and emotional needs,
this is actually a good thing because it makes your first action step really easy,
you can immediately start feeling better about yourself by starting to eat healthier and working out.
Really take care of your body, sleep well & workout! If your body is in the best shape internally and externally, it will reflect on your mood and mindset.
#6 HAVE A GOAL
If you’re depressed, one thing that helps a lot is having something to pursue. If you have a task you can work on every day,
it will distract you from the negative thoughts. Seeing progress towards the things you want will be so rewarding that you will be eventually motivated to pursue that goal, this goal can be anything, it can be your business,
art piece, book, sport Or whatever.
#7 FIND WHAT’S THERAPEUTIC FOR YOU
Find something that feels like meditation and takes you away from depression. There usually tends to be two kinds of personal therapies, Activities where you either express your mind or tire your body.
Activities for expressing your mind are writing books or like new trend writing blogs just like I’m doing, or it can be making music, drawing or acting.
And activities for tiring your body are doing sports, working out and so on. Both of these can help you get rid of negative thoughts especially if you do them routinely every day!
THESE CAN SERVE AS A GOOD ESCAPE FROM DAY-TO-DAY AND CAN SERVE AS YOUR ALONE TIME TO JUST UNWIND AND RELAXING
experiment with as many things as you can until you find out what works best for you, remember action and experimentation will get you your results not sitting on your ass waiting for some miracle cure to fall into you lap.
#8 TURN NEGATIVES INTO POSITIVES
no matter what difficulty you’re facing there is something to be learned from the situation, you should try to see that knowledge and use it to make progress in your life,
when you see negative things impacting you positively, it tends to take away from the negative and focuses on the positive.
All of the depression and struggle is here to make you stronger, but it will make you stronger until you make the conscious decision to view it as a positive thing to learn from instead of a negative.
#9 HAVE CLOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO CAN ACT AS YOUR SUPPORT SYSTEM
try to find that person or people who can help you open up about your issues so you don’t have to face them alone a lot of people tend to close themselves off to this sort of support and distance themselves when they’re going through periods of struggle but being open and honest about these sorts of things is actually beneficial because it allows you to get help from others and that’s it.
